Our Story

Growing up my sister and I had a special arts and craft box filled to the brim, which my Mum would always pull out every afternoon. Some days she would help us create a particular artwork, based on an interest or an upcoming event like Christmas or a birthday. Other days she would let our imaginations run wild to see what we could create. I still remember this special time spent with my Mum and sister and how proud I felt showing off my creations to my Dad, family and friends. This quality time with my family, being creative and learning through play, all while being away from screens, has instilled many core values in me.

I have always been interested in being creative and helping little minds explore. After completing my Early Childhood and Primary Teaching degree, I worked in preschools and primary schools engaging little minds and watching them learn and explore the world we live in. I LOVE being creative and know the many benefits all these activities have. I know the importance of reading books and engaging in quality discussions with all my students. I was only reminded of this by a student of a creative lesson that I taught 4 years ago, where we pretended to catch a flight to Italy. I had also made pretend flight tickets, we ate snacks while onboard our flight and once we arrived at our pretend destination, we made stained glass windows using cellophane and laminating sheets. This  engaging lesson opened my little learners eyes and one I am so glad they still cherish. It breaks my heart to know that not all children get these special opportunities.

In 2021 my daughter was born and I love being a Mum. It is something that I have always dreamed of and again found myself loving creating engaging activities for her to learn and explore through.

Now she is getting older and is beginning to really enjoy arts and craft as well as learning through play. I LOVE setting up engaging activities for her to play with, just like my Mum did. Whether that be making playdough and putting animals and a variety of other bits and pieces in it to make a small world set up, cooking a cake together or getting crafty and making cards for birthdays. I love being able to link learning through play in a variety of ways, from playing outside with our pet lambs, reading books about the farm and then creating a pretend farm using playdough - all while spending quality, screen free time.

My creative brain got thinking about how I could share these experiences with other families and tada - Budding Blossoms evolved.

My aim is to provide parents and carers with these activity boxes, but also the Adult card for activity suggestions to support learning, which allows them to confidently provide engaging activities. This takes the stress out of thinking of what you could do and allows for maximum quality time spent together, all while avoiding screen time. You are able to take your child's lead and see where the activities take you.

Thank you for supporting my little business!
